Bunkerhill Health Launches Carebricks Chat: Conversational Access to the Entire Patient Record

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — August 7, 2025 — Bunkerhill Health today announced the launch of Carebricks Chat, a new feature that allows clinicians to engage with a patient’s entire medical history through a simple, conversational interface.

Physicians and other users of Bunkerhill’s Carebricks platform at any health system can ask questions about an individual patient—using natural language—and receive answers grounded in the full longitudinal record, including EHR data, imaging, labs, encounter notes, and more. The assistant also incorporates insights from current clinical guidelines and the latest published medical research, helping clinicians surface the most relevant information in seconds.

From information overload to instant understanding

Modern EHRs scatter critical patient details across dozens of screens, making it difficult to quickly form a complete picture before or during a visit. Carebricks Chat solves this problem by combining generative AI and full integration with the EHR and other patient data streams to provide instant context. Physicians can use it to summarize a patient’s history, trace longitudinal trends, uncover missed follow-ups, and cross-check care against current guidelines.

During early use of the feature at the University of Texas Medical Branch, clinicians were able to quickly surface missed imaging follow-ups and piece together complex histories that would otherwise have required digging through multiple notes and reports. “Carebricks Chat simplifies access to critical information, saves us time, and gives us a more complete view of each patient,” said Dr. Peter McCaffrey, Chief AI Officer at UTMB Health. “This is the kind of technology that helps us focus on care, not the hunt for information.”

An extension of Carebricks’ reasoning layer

Carebricks Chat is fully integrated into the Carebricks platform, which health systems use to drive clinical reasoning and automate actions across a wide range of workflows. Carebricks already supports population-and cohort-level interventions, helping providers surface risks, optimize care pathways, and streamline processes at scale. Chat brings these capabilities to the individual patient level, giving clinicians instant access to the same reasoning engine during daily care, with answers tailored to each patient’s context.

“We’ve always believed that AI in healthcare should not only analyze data, but also make it usable,” said Nishith Khandwala, CEO and Co-Founder of Bunkerhill Health. “Carebricks Chat turns the entire patient record into a conversation. Instead of clicking through endless tabs, physicians can ask, ‘What’s changed since last visit?’ or ‘Has this nodule been followed up on?’ and get an answer that’s comprehensive, contextual, and ready when they need it.”

Scaling the conversation

While small-scale, institution-specific projects have emerged recently at various academic medical centers to enable engaging with the patient record in a chat-type interface, Carebricks Chat is available through Bunkerhill’s Carebricks platform to any health system in the United States through a standard integration. It runs on the same infrastructure already deployed at leading providers, including UTMB Health and Cleveland Clinic, and benefits from the safety, traceability, and governance standards built into every Carebricks deployment.

Carebricks Chat also inherits the strengths of the broader Carebricks ecosystem—its access to the full patient record, its ability to reason across multiple modalities, and its ability to launch automated workflows to take appropriate, personalized actions to improve patient care and increase efficiency. Together, these capabilities make Carebricks Chat a natural extension of how Bunkerhill is rethinking clinical reasoning and action at scale.
